Inside the casino, yet surprisingly delish. The people lining up made me curious. I tried the bouillabaisse and it was well balanced broth, a little spice that was nice. You can tell the chefs care about the quality of what they prepare For Tahoe, the seafood selection was good. Agree with another reviewer about the bread roll - it's like the airplane rolls. It was dry and tasteless. If only they would change it to a sourdough olive oil grilled toast. Or fresh baked fisherman's rosemary loaf. They prepare quickly at the bar and it's perfect for eating solo.

The best time to go is right when they open and you're one of the first few in line. Otherwise, you're waiting a while for a seat at the bar--because it literally is only a bar top "restaurant". But it is so well worth the wait. The seafood is fresh and delicious, and the portions are generous. I ordered the Bouillabaisse and it comes with shrimp, lobster, crab legs, cod, clams and mussels. It was excellent and a great price at $35. My husband ordered the jambalaya and it was also a hit! You can also do oyster shooters (which I like but my husband does not) and do classics like shrimp cocktail (they give you tons of shrimp). Don't miss this spot when you're in South Lake Tahoe! It's inside the Golden Nugget (formerly the Hard Rock).

Oyster bar is not only good food but it's a fun overall experience. It's inside the Golden Nugget casino and it's literally a giant counter space directly facing the slot machines and next to the steak house. It's a bustling space with workers cooking, taking orders, shucking oysters and patrons sitting elbow to elbow like an oyster bar in SF in the old days. Yes, the wait in line is most likely going to take a while because it's just the bar seating. The menu is a wonderful selection of your favorite shellfish dishes from the Bayou. We ordered oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, lobster house pan bake, and ciopinno (sp). They cook everything right in front of you. Everything was killer. We were so so full so personally I could've skipped on the clam chowder. Thanks for a great time Oyster Bar!!!!!
